Established in November 2013, the Mercantile is a local boutique gift shop located in downtown San Luis Obispo, CA. It has been the store’s purpose to promote shopping local throughout the San Luis Obispo community. Local mothers, artisans, farmers, and growers are essential to the store’s own way of contributing to the “shop local” trend that the Central Coast is highly known for. The Mercantile carries a wide variety of local specialty foods, home décor, baby items, jewelry, and many more gift items. We also serve as Cattaneo Bros downtown shop location.
Our staple in the community is creating custom gifts packs with locally made products. Store owner Katelyn Kaney said, “the greatest part is having the opportunity to be a part of the gift giving process. I hope that we can be a place people can come to for inspiration, browsing, and creating gifts and walk out excited about giving their gift!” Being able to come in and find a gift completely made in the San Luis Obispo is what makes the store so special.
